Information Services is the central IT department supporting all
divisions of the Metropolitan Council. Our 140 team members provide
technology, practices, and innovative solutions that enable the
core services of the Council.
How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin
Cities region:
TheManager, Network manages, plans and directs Information Services
teams and projects - performs general administrative, supervisory
and managerial duties including strategic planning, operating and
capital budget development, coaching and performance management,
workforce planning and hiring, and establishment of goals and
priorities, and oversees software and/or hardware selection and
implementation. This role has significant responsibility in the
selection and coordination of vendor services and licensing
agreements.
Full salary range: $43.08 - 69.92 hourly/$89,606 - $145,434
annually
Salary is determined by the selected candidate's qualifications and
internal pay equity structure.

What you would do in this job
Supervise a team of information technology professionals. This
includes working collaboratively with team members to develop,
review and adjust employee work plans, performance goals and
development plans. It also includes recruiting and hiring,
performance management and evaluation, mentoring, coaching, team
building and serving.
Participate in department management team activities including
budgeting, policy development and implementing department
objectives and goals.
Participate in the development of strategies and strategic plans
for Council information technology.
Establish Information Services procedures and standards and ensure
the creation and maintenance of appropriate documentation for
systems.
Provide analytical support and leadership in assessment of overall
functionality and effectiveness of Council technology systems,
integration with existing or planned systems, and ongoing
support.
Make recommendations to management for improvements to current
systems and processes.
Act as a liaison between the Information Services department and
other departments to ensure transparency and strong, positive
relationships.
Manage or coordinate projects and guide technical staff to
participate in and manage projects efficiently, including project
definitions, work plans, documentation, scheduling, control methods
and status reporting.
Direct development of contract specifications and monitor the work
of contract personnel.
What education and experience are required for this job (minimum
qualifications)
High school diploma or GED AND ten (10) years of progressively
responsible experience in information technology or a related field
(e.g., business analysis, project management, service delivery, IT
service management, etc.) INCLUDING three (3) years of experience
leading people and/or projects that demonstrates skill in
coordinating and monitoring the work of project teams and /or
staff.
Note:Highest completed degree in a related field will count towards
the minimum ten (10) years of required work experience.
Associates degree counts as two years of experience.
Bachelor's degree counts as four years of experience.
Master's degree counts as six years of experience.
Experience for all the above equivalencies must include at least
three years of experience leading people and/or projects that
demonstrates skill in coordinating and monitoring the work of
project teams and/or staff.
Metropolitan Council Employees Only: Successful completion of any
one of the following four Metropolitan Council
Leadership/Supervisory training programs will substitute for
lead/supervisory experience. You must attach your certificate(s) as
proof of completion of the program to your application. Only
completion of one of the four programs listed below will substitute
credit (6 months or 1 year) for lead/supervisory experience.

What your work environment would be:
You would perform your work in a standard office setting. Work may
sometimes require travel between your primary work site and other
