Job Description:
Job PurposeProvide global regulatory leadership for the company
by ensuring compliance with global food laws and regulations,
managing regulatory submissions, and staying current with global
food laws and regulations. Develop the company's global compliance
program and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement
regulatory strategies and ensure compliance. Monitor changes in
global food regulations and communicate updates to key
stakeholders.Essential FunctionsProvide global regulatory
leadership for the companyEnsure products comply with governmental
regulations in all current and target markets/countries such as
NAM, EMEA, LATAM, Canada, and APACDevelop and implement regulatory
strategies to meet global compliance requirements for the
companyAssist in the development of global regulatory systems and
procedures for country-specific and local applicationsRemain
current with global regulatory requirements and changes in the food
manufacturing industry to enhance regulatory strategies and ensure
maintained complianceParticipate in cross-functional project teams,
identifying risks or concerns as projects move from ideation to
launchLead the global regulatory affairs of the department by
providing intelligence, interpretation, analysis, and overall
strategy in support of company businessPrepare timely and accurate
responses to customer inquiries - both internal and external -
regarding the regulatory status of products, their ingredients, and
the processes used to produce themConduct reviews of raw materials,
ingredient compositions, formulations, nutritional, labeling, and
emerging agency regulations, overseeing the regulatory approval
processes of ingredients and formulations for our products
globallyFulfill regulatory compliance needs from all key
stakeholders and customers in an accurate and timely mannerProvide
regulatory support to Canadian facilities regarding nutrition,
labeling, ingredient declarations, standards of identity,
etc.Perform risk assessment for the company with ever-changing
enforcement and regulation changes in the different regions around
the worldAccurately maintain product information databases;
establish and maintain procedures and processes to ensure
regulatory compliance, and participate in audits of all related
proceduresProvide regulatory assistance for key customers ensuring
products succeed in their evolving formulas as neededPrepare and
submit necessary documentation for regulatory approvals and
certifications in various countriesWork strategically across
divisions and with stakeholders to understand key regulatory
objectives ensuring alignment with business growth objectivesWork
with outside partners to complete required translations for
projects within the departmentCommunicate professionally with
governmental agencies and joint venture partners on all matters
affecting our global regulatory complianceWork with peers in
regulatory department on key industry-related issues as
neededMaintain professional relationships with cross-functional
teamsSupport food safety program, quality standards, and legality
of manufactured productsPerform other job-related duties as
assignedQualifications (Education, Experience,
Competencies)Bachelor's degree in microbiology, food science,
regulatory affairs, or related discipline5+ years of experience
with an ingredient/food manufacturing company or food
science/technical/regulatory organization with specific time spent
in international food safety standards and regulationsProven
experience in global regulatory affairs, preferably in the food
industryExperience with NAM, EMEA, LATAM, Canada, and APAC; Canada
and LATAM preferredIn-depth knowledge of international food safety
standards and regulationsDemonstrated experience developing
compliance programs and implementing regulatory strategies and
protocolsAbility to interface with regulatory
agencies/authoritiesExcellent knowledge of relevant federal and
state compliance regulations and food and labeling regulations
related to the bakery industryStrong knowledge of and experience
with product specification sheets, nutritional panels, product
labeling requirementsHighly proficient skills using MS Word, Excel,
Access, Outlook, ESHA Genesis or another nutritional software
packageDetail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneouslyAbility to effectively communicate with all levels of
the companyAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment
and independently in a flexible work environment with changing
prioritiesStrong leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and
decision-making skillsAbility to manage, train, and develop
